Grantee Highlight:
More Than A Hashtag LV, is a Las Vegas-based youth-led group that empowers communities fighting for justice, particularly against police violence and misconduct. To fulfill this mission, they have several key initiatives, including the Jorge Antonio Gomez (JAG) Program for Political Education, conducting extensive victim advocacy to support families with legal aid, community building work to connect with and serve over-policed neighborhoods, and The People’s Investigation and Report which provides independent transparency and community awareness on cases of police misconduct.
“All of our programs are calls to action from impacted families that are co-designed around the specific needs of impacted folks within our community. We want to shift the community’s consciousness to envision a world without police that is safe and considers us.”–Desiree Smith, MTAH
